Well, after a little bit of a delay (both work and a quick trip down to SF – w00t!) the last of the Museum’s Spring Break science demos is up and posted! This time, we’re mixing a little bit of corn starch, a little bit of water and a lot of bass rumble! Take a look —

Poor plastic tripod almost didn’t make it through these photos, but I’m glad that it, the camera and my fingers all made it though another frigid prairie night to snap a few shots of the Venus Moon conjunction Let’s do this again in Summer!

Two more pictures from today (the benefits of having to leave my camera work!) 1st up is tart plates repelling off of the Van der Graff generator. 2nd is our pet Emperor Scorpion, Pinchy! Cute little guy, especially in blacklight!

Playing around with adding a couple of experiments to our electrifying science demos! Tried doing this by hand, but I made an unfortunate path to ground, which wouldn’t be so bad, if I didn’t have a pile of these demos tomorrow morning and I don’t think my hand could take it :S Want to try this again if I can get a totally dark room, but it’s a pretty good start. I’ve heard rumblings of a neon tube kicking around, somewhere, which would make an awesome addition!
